Spanish (Shawlands)
Spain is known as Europe's most passionate country - where food and wine are obsessions and landscapes lift the spirit, where music courses through the nation's soul and the good life is lived in present. It's for such reasons that we Scots swap the drizzle for the sizzle in Spain above anywhere else. Not only this, but Spanish is spoken by over 400 million people worldwide, opening up an abundance of opportunities and insights. How many more reasons could you need to dive right in to Spanish lessons and vives la vida española...
Hatchling will give you an intro into the Spanish language. You will learn how to pronounce the alphabet and will be able to tell your amigos from your amigas. In addition you will build up some basic vocab and Spanish cultural knowledge.
Chick will introduce you to Spanish grammar and give you the building blocks for learning the language. As well as grammar, the chick course will increase your knowledge about how to construct sentences. Chick will give you enough Spanish knowledge to (flamingle) mingle with the locals on trips abroad.
In Post Chick you will start learning about new tenses as well as beginning to have short conversations en español. Post chick will enable you to increase your comprehension and pronunciation skills so much that you will sound like a majestic malagueño in no time!
In Fledgling you will be building up more advanced sentences and will be able to have conversations in Spanish on a wide range of topics and be able to say Pepe pecas pica papas con un pico without even sweating.
Benidorm Banter- If you know you’re raro from your rare, your embarazada from your embarrassed and your constipado from your constipated then this could be the course for you. Benidorm Banter is for intermediate and more advanced speakers of Spanish who want to improve their Spanish conversation skills. The course is purely conversation based and will cover more advanced conversation topics such as the environment, politics, social issues, human rights, technology, traditions, culture and philosophy. Students will learn new vocabulary and some useful idioms to blend in even at the fanciest fiesta.
Spanish Summer Lingo - If you like travelling to Spain, but your Spanish accent sounds more Govan than Granada, then this is the course for you. This class is designed to enable you not only to survive, but also to thrive in everyday situations in Spanish. From asking for directions to the best tapas bar in town, getting on the right bus to the playa or ordering paella and chorizo like a local, our class provides a solid foundation to build upon, and covers basic vocabulary, grammar and phrases providing you with more confidence on your next trip abroad!
Our Spring Semester Shawlands Spanish classes begin on the following dates (dependent on level selected):

Each lesson lasts for 1.5 Hours
Each Course last for 10 weeks from the start date. (Please note that there will be NO classes on Easter Weekend!)
