At Lingo Flamingo our mission is to promote well-being, improve cognitive health and enable life-long learning by being the leading provider of accessible language learning services.

Join our Community Classes

Embark on a journey to learn a language in a laid-back atmosphere.

We teach six languages at various levels either online or in-person at our Shawlands hub, providing support and online learning tools to create an accessible and interactive learning experience for all.

Thinking about joining the Lingo Flamingo flock? Have a look at the 10 points below - we hope they convince you that we do language learning a little differently. Keep in mind that the profits from our unique Language Nest classes go towards providing free or subsidised classes for older adults in care homes and community groups across Scotland.

Why choose Lingo Flamingo?

Immersive Teaching

Our raison d’être is to create immersive, engaging and multi-sensory classes for older adults and those living with dementia. These brain-boosting classes have led us to develop unique teaching methodologies and a fun, accessible, laid-back learning environment for people of all ages!

Relaxed Atmosphere

For many reasons, language learning in the UK is often associated with a certain dull rigidity, painful awkwardness or aimless purpose. We want to put such notions to bed once and for all. We do this through a variety of means, such as offering you tea or coffee on arrival, providing a comfortable and relaxed learning environment, fostering connections between you and your fellow learners and ensuring the pace of learning is right for you.

Not-for-Profit

We’re a social enterprise founded to promote and harness the health benefits of language learning. As such, each and every penny of profit from our Language Nest classes goes directly towards offering free or subsidised language projects to care homes and older adult communities across Scotland.

Accessible

If Lingo the flamingo had a middle name, it might just be accessibility. No matter your age, physical ability, mental health, financial situation or location, we want you to be able to benefit from language learning. That’s why we put accessibility at our core, from the teaching techniques we use to the original materials we create to our pricing structure.

Our Care Home Classes

We offer language classes for older adults in care homes or day centres, providing the health benefits of bilingualism. We believe in the benefits of language learning to help with dementia.

If you’re a care home or community organisation, you can book a Taster Class now.

Our Impact in 2023

Lingo Flamingo exists to make language learning interactive and accessible. We do this because we want everyone to experience the joy of learning a second language and to gain from the health benefits of bilingualism.
